Special guest presentation from Nicola Barbieri, Senior Data Scientist at Tumblr.

Abstract:

Tumblr is one of the most popular and vibrant social networks, with over 300 million blogs and 140 billion posts. In this talk he will provide a brief overview of how Tumblr exploits data science techniques to improve the daily experience of their users and drive future product developments, as well as main challenges.

Next he will discuss recent developments on how to blend recommendations coming from different algorithmic sources and on scalable topic detection.
