Event Driven Architecture with Apache Kafka

Details
The inversion of flow from a top-down, request oriented system to one where data flows in real-time from the bottom-up provides a significant decoupling between systems and amazing flexibility for future expansion. This concept is at the core of Event Driven Architecture and helps drive forward a domain driven microservice ecosystem. Apache Kafka is a natural choice for building event driven systems because it’s reliable, easily scalable and “wicked fast”!
Shandon Miller, Senior Engineer at Manulife, will discuss the most popular approaches to designing event driven solution and how to implement such a system yourself.
Agenda:
6pm: Doors Open
6:30pm - 7:30pm: Tech Talk
7:30pm - 8:15pm: Q&A and Networking
Speaker Bio
Shandon Miller has developed multiple event driven systems for Manulife using Apache Kafka and, as part of Manulife's Engineering Transformation team, enjoys teaching coaching other engineers on the benefits of event driven architecture.
