In November 2014, the Bengaluru Bruhat Mahanagar Palike (BBMP) announced that only three trees are felled everyday - this adds up to about 1100 every year.
The February edition of GeoBLR will feature Project Vruksha (http://vruksha.com/) - a movement to quantify biodiversity through scientific tree census. Vruksha's founders believes that accountability and conservation can be realised by documenting existing trees. Project Vruksha members will talk to us about urban forestry, tree census, the mapping practice, tools, research and highlight use cases.
