Building a Basic Website

Hello everyone. It's time for our second meetup.

Since we covered mostly theory in our first meetup, we'll be getting a little bit more involved in this one. We're actually going to be building a functioning website!

The things we'll be covering / discussing will include:

• Development Tools

• Getting a localhost server up and running on your laptop

• Setting up an FTP client for when you're ready to move the site

• Selecting a Content Management System (Wordpress etc) or coding from scratch

• Selecting a UI framework (Bootstrap / Foundation) or styling from scratch

• Creating a contact form (Sending you and the user a notification email)

• Creating a simple database (For when you need something stored, and how to access that data)

There are a lot more things we'll be going over as well, but that's just a short plan so that we don't get too carried away like last time. By carried away I mean us talking forever!

Since this is all practical, please bring your laptops.

Please bring your ideas. Please bring your questions. Please bring your technical problems. Nothing is too simple or too complicated. We're here to help you get started and to help you get going.
