Big united meetup: BigMoscow and Moscow Cassandra Users

Hi, friends!

Let me announce our next meetup. This time it will be a half-day Saturday event and we join it with a second meetup group I'm involved in: Moscow Cassandra Users (https://www.meetup.com/Moscow-Cassandra-Users/).

Speakers (Big Moscow / Big Data track):

• Dmitri Babaev, Digital Society Lab. Will talk about ElasticSearch usage as a distributed NoSQL database rather than a search index. Agenda: 1) ES Architecture, 2) Data storage & reverse index design, 3) ES for a semi-structured data storage.

• Aleksei Kornev, AdMoment. Will give a "Cooking SOA" talk about building modern distributed systems with lightweight services. Some keywords: Thrift, Google Protobuff, Twitter Finagle, functional composition.

Speakers (DataStax Cassandra track):

• Aleksey Yeschenko (https://www.meetup.com/Moscow-Cassandra-Users/members/104614092/), DataStax. Will give a short talk on what's new in the upcoming 2.0 release (will have been released by the time of the meetup). Aleksey is an active Cassandra committer and will answer all your questions regarding C* consistency guarantees, implementations choices and other questions we had on the previous MCU meetup.

• Shamim (https://www.meetup.com/Moscow-Cassandra-Users/members/88856712/) from At consulting built an analytical system on top of Cassandra with Hadoop, which runs in production environments. He will share their use cases, experiences of maintaining the cluster and the best practices which they have followed.

• Alexander Solovyev, ex GridDynamics contractor, worked on e-commerce online system with Cassandra as a backend. He will describe product architecture and use cases, and talk about steps taken to improve performance.
