Presentation:
The Internet of Things is driving the digital disruption into the physical world. This presentation gives an overview of IBM's strategy and current offerings to help clients to become more competitive in this area. IBM Watson IoT platform forms the base of the current portfolio, which is based on a globally scaled MQTT broker as a service in the IBM Cloud also offering a free tier for interested individuals and start-ups.

The Watson IoT platform in action. Connect a Texas Instruments Sensor Tag to the cloud and process data on your IPAD or communicate sensor values via Watson

Live Demo 2:
Read accelerometer data from your mobile device and stream this data to via MQTT to the Watson IoT Platform. Learn how to classify this data into different movement patterns (standing/sitting, walking, running, dancing)
Speakers:
Romeo Kienzler is a Chief Data Scientist at the IBM Watson IoT Division. In his role he is involved in international Data Mining and Data Science projects to ensure that clients get the maximum out of their data. He works as Associate Professor for Data Mining at a Swiss University and his current research focus is on Cloud Scale Data Mining using Open Source Technologies including R, ApacheSpark, SystemML, ApacheFlink and DeepLearning4J. He also contributes to various open source projects.
Rainer Hochecker started his career after his Software Engineering studies. Since 2000 he has worked as a consultant in software distribution and the Internet of Things at IBM.
In his spare time he writes code for an open source project.
