This class on the CNC router focuses on the workflow for routing a 2D design programmed in F-Engrave. Taking a pre drawn vector graphic image, the students will create a G-code program using F-Engrave software. Each student will go through the steps of setting up the tooling and workpiece, loading the program and cutting the parts on the CNC router. Students will make a small wooden keepsake.

In the process we’ll cover,

  • Use F-Engrave to generate a toolpath
  • Importing vectorized drawings
  • Contours and layers
  • Tool selection and discussion of tool choice
  • Feed and Speed (use FSWizard app)
  • Cut simulation
  • Exporting gcode
  • Reviewing gcode as a text file
  • LinuxCNC
  • Importing gcode
  • Homing the machine
  • Workpiece Clamping
  • Vacuum table
  • Screws
