Your brand is your business. Your business name, logo, and slogan are some the most valuable assets that your business can own and yet, often, these assets remain unprotected. Registering your trademarks with the United States Patent and Trademark Office “USPTO” is one of the best and most effective steps you can take to ensure that your business’s trademarks are adequately protected.

In this class you will learn:

- What constitutes a trademark
- Why and how to protect your trademarks
- The advantages of registering your trademarks with the USPTO
- An overview of how to register your trademarks with the USPTO

Bio: Katie O’Neill Tran is the founding attorney of O’Neill Tran Law, a business and trademark law firm. She has been practicing law since 2007. Katie has spent over ten years assisting entrepreneurs and business owners with a wide array of legal issues; from filing initial trademarks and entity formation, through obtaining investor funding, and negotiating contracts with employees, third-party vendors, and clients.

Katie, has experience serving as the outside general counsel for companies across the United States and the world, including those based in California, Chicago, New York, and Dublin (Ireland). She has experience not only in domestic corporate and trademark law, but also in international intellectual property and commercial law. Katie is an active member of the bar and is licensed to practice law in California, Illinois, New York, and Ireland.
