Prime Desert Woodland Moonwalk

Prime Desert Woodland Moonwalk

Details

This event starts at 6:30 pm and involves a one mile walk through the desert. Jeremy, from the SAGE planetarium is your guide and he makes several stops to explain the visible objects in the night sky and explain some of the ancient mythology surrounding the constellations. I attended last weekend and really enjoyed the experience. The Antelope Valley Astronomy Club will have telescopes set up for observation after the desert walk. Jupiterr , the Orion nebula, and the Pleiades are prime targets for your enjoyment.

There is a public facility with restrooms and exhibits related to the desert habitat. Lots of Joshua trees in the area. Dress warm-jackets-caps-gloves/mittens for maximum comfort . Tour surface is well maintained and flat.

As an aside , I stopped at a nearby sushi restaurant that was very enjoyable and had a hot cup of tea and Udon soup that hit the spot. This place is loud and fun (music/dancing) with great prices and attentive waiters.
