We want to keep this conversation going, so we're going to do another Systems + Futures event with three practitioners also actively practicing at the confluence of Systems and Futures.

'Systems' and 'Futures' are interrelated and inextricable.

Nina Gregg and Alex Alden will be joining us to share work they're actively engaged in at the confluence of Systems and Futures. For the purposes of our event 'Systems' encompasses Systems Thinking, Systemic Design, and Systems-oriented Design. 'Futures' encompasses Futures Literacy, Design-Futures, Strategic Foresight, and Futures Studies. We will explore and discuss Systems and Futures as a mindset, an approach to how you inhabit the world, and how you design products, services, systemic interventions, and alternative futures scenarios that will or can manifest in the worlds you inhabit.

👥 About our Panelists 👥
Nina Gregg: is a design strategist, futurist and researcher who tackles systemic societal challenges. She has a BFA in Industrial Design with a concentration in Nature, Culture and Sustainability Studies from The Rhode Island School of Design. Her interests lie in the future of smart cities, specifically - wellbeing, work, governance, energy, public space and mobility. She uses her background in life-centered design and critical thinking to translate the complexity of the world into inclusive insights, recommendations and ventures.

Kayla Love: UX Researcher, Afrofuturist + Eclectic Spiritualist. Creator of Pilira Design Lab. Kayla is unfortunately unable to join us from Puerto Rico for this event due to unforeseen difficulties finishing up her international move and getting utilities set up. If you'd like to follow Kayla's work, you can do so by engaging with the Pilira Design Lab community on Twitter or on their Slack: https://piliradesignlabcoven.slack.com/join/shared_invite/zt-ssxdt2hh-7fgNGCHOWeYVTriODWyq5A

Alex Alden: What am I? I am a work in progress. I get scared. I judge myself harshly. I like learning about feelings and playing with my internal landscape to build new pathways. I am interested in what it means to be human, and how to do it better. I generally get paid for my imagination and intellect. I spend a lot of time in the future - thinking of what might be and shaping what could be. I see the world as interconnected systems and I solve problems from that mindset. I believe we know everything we need to know, but we have stopped listening to our intuition and nature; our great teacher. By moving in alignment with those things I live better, have a more positive effect on others, and create better solutions for the people I work with. I do none of these things perfectly. People give me titles. One is Founder of entelechy, another is an independent strategist, another is Acumen Fellow, one that I like a lot is Alex.
