MS IT consolidated their collaboration and storage under Joel’s direction as Operations Manager at Microsoft which covered global SharePoint 2003 deployment and all IT managed file shares, and personal storage at Microsoft. He later moved to the product team, first as an Architect for the first version of SharePoint Online in Microsoft's cloud, and then as Sr. Technical Product Manager for Microsoft’s most popular release of SharePoint.

Following his time at Microsoft, Joel took his show on the road like no other gaining frequent flier status on the top 3 global programs including Delta. He traveled across the world speaking at nearly every Microsoft TechEd, SharePoint Conference, and Office 365 event while building SharePoint communities in his wake on a noble quest to visit every country in the world.
