Stunning landscapes, wilderness and tranquillity, rare in southern England, and a warm rural welcome await you on Exmoor, one of Britain's breathing places; and the glimpse of wild Red Deer or the native Exmoor Pony, are just a couple of the delights that make Exmoor special.

Situated in the south-west of Britain, Exmoor National Park contains an amazing variety of landscapes within its 267 square miles. A unique landscape of moorland, woodland, valleys and farmland, shaped by people and nature over thousands of years. Where high cliffs plunge into the Bristol Channel, and cosy pubs and tearooms offer delicious local produce.

Steeped in history Exmoor area covers a wide range of places to visit from Combe Martin in North Devon along the spectacular coastline of Exmoor National Park, across the Quantock Hills to the tip of West Somerset and inland to rural villages and acres of open space, from rugged moorland to wooded valleys. It's all dotted with pretty villages where you'll find a friendly welcome.

HIKES
There will be a minimum of two very capable hike leaders on this weekend, both with extensive navigational and leading experience and trained in wilderness first aid.
The choice of hikes will differ in distance and toughness and we usually aim to have no more than 20 people per hike. This ensures that the groups are not left waiting for long periods whilst the 40th person catches up.
Usually, you can expect the shorter of the hikes to be around 10 miles / 16km and the long hike to be 16 miles / 25 km plus. This will vary according to the terrain and ascents.

We are passionate about hiking and experienced navigators as such we don’t need to repeat the same hikes on the same weekends.

YOGA
Hiking and Yoga is a great combination, we have had a few weekends in the past and they proved to be very popular.
Yoga can be fun and very beneficial physical and mental work out.
Any level is welcome, classes will be tailored and suitable for the beginners and the advanced yoga practitioners as well.
Maintaining a supple body and peaceful mind is essential for our well being.
All classes are tailor-made and with particular emphasis on strengthening and awakening the body in the morning.
In the evening we will focus more on balance in the postures and we will treat our body to 15 minutes of total relaxation.
“Health is wealth, peace of mind is happiness, yoga shows the way.”
Yoga sessions will take place on Saturday/Sunday in the morning 7-8 and on Saturday evening 17-18.
With an excellent location and great walks, this is the weekend for anybody willing to relax and recharge!
FOOD
AAA food quality has become well known within the Hiking Meetup community. We typically greet you with a warm soup supper with cold meats and bread on your arrival on Friday night topped off with a large homemade cake.

You can enjoy Misha’s famous hearty porridge with fruits, nuts and honey both mornings topped off by a cooked breakfast, freshly brewed coffee and juice. The perfect start to a day hike, cereals, bread and food are also available.
We believe your packed lunch is a personal affair and we provide you with all the ingredients for you to make up your own sandwiches, so if you want to make your own peanut butter and banana sandwiches here’s your chance. Fruit, crisps and biscuit snacks are also available.
After returning from your hike scones, jam and clotted cream are available with your afternoon tea. However, some hikes might, if the opportunity arises for the cream teas and pop into a local country pub before returning.
Saturday dinner is a group event; members will help with some of the preparation whilst reflecting on the day’s scenery. Dinner is usually served at 8 pm and includes a wide selection of salads with meat and a vegetarian dish.
If you have any special diet requirements please let us know in advance so that we can accommodate your needs.
(AAA aims for home-made healthy food, catering for vegetarians, vegans and anybody else.)
