ABOUT: Autistic Adults of Greater Savannah (AAGS) was founded in May 2018 when its founder discovered that neither Savannah nor any of its surrounding cities offered any Meetup groups—or even traditional support groups!—for adults whose daily lives are affected by autism/Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
MISSION: To provide opportunities for autistic adults to make friends with other adults like them and to ultimately feel empowered by—not ashamed of—their "disorder" in a fun, accepting atmosphere.
FAQ's [Updated 12/27/18]:
• WHO CAN JOIN THIS GROUP?: Everyone* on the spectrum is welcome! This group is open to all autistic adults and their families and/or any support person that individual with ASD may require in order to participate successfully at public events. (UPDATE [6/7/20]: This includes, obviously, individuals of any sex, race, sexual orientation, etc.)
• WHERE ARE YOUR MEETUPS HELD?: We have 3+ social events per month (i.e., game night, lunch/dinner at a local restaurant, etc.), as well as one recurring group meeting per month.
