What we're about

The Alexandria-Arlington Regional Gaming Group or AARGGH exists to provide a community for gaming enthusiasts in the DC Metro area, with an emphasis in NoVA. We play board games, social games, Euro games, role-playing games, laser tag, bowling, mini golf, and any other game anyone will organize with a large monthly event and several smaller events each month. We're brand new and looking for friendly folks to hang out with at our events

July MORE Grand Gaming Melee

Charles E. Beatley, Jr. Central Library

AARGGH knows you want MORE and we give you MORE! MORE time to play MORE games, MORE snacks to nibble while you play MORE games, and MORE… well, other stuff involved with games. Yes, there’s a second Grand Gaming Melee in July, and this is it! Be there or be somewhere else where there’s not nearly as many games, probably. There will be MORE of everything – this event description proves it! Bring MORE games you want to play, or come without games and play MORE of what others bring. There will be MORE board games, MORE card games, MORE tile games, and MORE of just about every other kind of game that can be played on a tabletop. If you want to try a new one (or MORE), there will be plenty of people eager to teach you. Did we say MORE snacks? [writer checks first paragraph to verify claim] Yes, yes we did, so bring something MORE delicious to share! Popular delicious items include bags of chips, pretzels, cookies, or crackers. Some people bring a package of doughnuts or cupcakes; these are always MORE popular and disappear quickly. A few creative types may even bring something homemade; these contributions are even MORE appreciated! A refrigerator is available to store drinks and MORE items that should be kept chilled. Official start time is 10:30am, but you may arrive as early as 10:00am to help with MORE setup. MORE cleanup begins around 4:00pm (or whenever you decide that you can’t squeeze in one MORE game before the end of the event). Remember, whoever starts cleanup first gets the best choice of MORE leftover snacks to take home! As always [well, as in the past few Melees since we haven’t always been), be clean! Please observe these rules regarding cleanup at Beatley library: 1. Please ensure that food scraps, crumbs, and bits of packaging are not strewn in the kitchen or auditorium. The library closes shortly after our event ends, so anything edible left on the floor or counters will attract MORE vermin overnight. 2. Please fold most of the tables and stack them under the coat rack – a few may remain where they were used – but DO NOT FOLD THE CHAIRS. Let’s have MORE folding of tables and not so MORE folding of chairs! [note to self: MORE grammar] Leave them out in any configuration that lets people walk around them MORE easily. Many chairs are needed for a program the following day, but the tables only impede the activity MORE. [no MORE, please, I’ll tell you anything]

Sunday Games at Ireland's Four Courts

Ireland's Four Courts

Welcome to Sunday Games at Ireland’s Four Courts, a friendly pub that’s like a little bit o’ the Emerald Isle just a shamrock's throw from Court House metro station. The Celtic ambiance notwithstanding, there’s no need to wear green (unless you’re planning to play Kodama), and after an evening of games you can shuffle to the next room and engage in that old Irish tradition, karaoke. Bring your favorite board and card games, or bring nothing but an appetite for friendly competition and delicious food and drink; the event host will provide a selection of popular games for everyone to play. The restaurant has offered us gaming space at no charge but with the understanding that players will be ordering food and drink. While you play, please do enjoy something from the menu, which you can find on the restaurant's website (http://www.irelandsfourcourts.com/). Also, please tip generously. The wait staff will stand ready to serve you for your entire session of Fields of Green or A Study in Emerald even if you order no more than the customer who comes and goes in less than an hour, so they deserve extra consideration. Technical note: The end time shown above is just a suggestion. The restaurant is open later – much later – as is the kitchen, so you're welcome to hang out, finish your game, and order more to eat and drink.
