Enjoy the last day of British Summer Time 2016 on a scenic ride covering revelatory parts of West, Central & East London at a sociable talkative pace dependent on who turns up on the day. Experience famous landmarks, riverside and green chain views within an amazingly pleasurable route, mostly away from traffic and flat.
We may have worked up a healthy appetite after an astonishing ride to where our dinner will be at a secret yet world famous restaurant location in London. Please bring some money for this feast of unlimited food and optional drinks.
This ride is suitable for most bikes; geared, single speed and fixed. It can be done with between 23mm road bike and 36mm mountain bike tyres without too much drama.
We meet at Victoria train station 8.00 am at the central area in front of the main ticket office concourse between platforms 12 and 14. Victoria is directly accessible with bikes by train and tube via the Circle and District lines and interlinked with several other lines including the DLR (http://content.tfl.gov.uk/bicycles-on-public-transport.pdf).
Please have a good (slow release) breakfast such as porridge plus bring snacks and drinks as this ride will be at a decent pace dependent on who turns up on the day without a mid-ride long lunch stop, although a 2-hour restaurant feast stop is planned at the end. This event will probably be completed within 8 hours including stoppages and the final meal.
No one will be left behind, however, if you are struggling to keep up then we will point you in the direction of the nearest station. Whilst attending Another Bike Event there may be a time when you are unintentionally separated from the group.
For those cyclists who do not wish to do the whole route, there will be a few train stations along the route, so if you wish to join us for part of the ride and then take the train back en route you are welcome to.
This meetup may be weather dependent so 12 hours before the event begins if blizzards, earthquakes, tsunamis or plagues of locust are forecast then the event may be cancelled, please check this website and your emails the evening before the event begins.
Helmets, lights and a spare inner tube will be compulsory. Every week someone has a puncture.
For peace of mind, if your bike is relatively expensive and/or insured it may be advisable to bring a lock for the optional restaurant stop. We aim to keep bikes close and secure, although depending on seating availability on the day we may not have a direct line of sight of bikes during the restaurant stop. This location has high-security bike parking when locks are used.
