What we're about

One of the most positive, life affirming choices anyone can make for their health, all animals and the planet is to adopt and practice a vegan lifestyle. This group is for anyone who is already vegan or just curious and would like to learn more about this compassionate lifestyle choice. The meet-up is a non-judgmental place to have fun, get educated and connect with community. We host peaceful protests against cruelty to animals, leafletting (hand out vegan literature) and set up educational booths at events like Earth Day. This group also holds a vegan (plant based: no meat, no dairy, no eggs, and no honey) potluck on the first Saturday of every month! Since this group is run by three ethical vegans, anyone can contact us to suggest a meetup, but all of the events have to be vegan. :)

Pino Trail hike plus optional vegan lunch at Annapurna's

Hi all, this is being organized by one of our members Ed. Please direct any questions to him. What: Pino Trail hike plus optional vegan lunch at Annapurna's. Time: Saturday, January 26th, 9:30 AM Location: Pino Trailhead, Elena Gallegos Park, Albuquerque, NM 87111 (The parking lot is a counterclockwise loop. Meet at the 3rd trailhead as you circumnavigate the parking lot.) GPS coordinates[masked], [masked] Price: $2 for parking. You may need exact change. This is a moderate to difficult hike. The trail is relatively smooth, and we will only be going about 5 miles round trip in about 2 hours, but they will be 5 steep miles. We will not go to the top. The plan is to hike up the mountain for about an hour before turning around. We will enjoy beautiful views and we will get close enough to see and hear the Sandia Peak Tram. More details about the trail are available at: https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g60933-d2272196-r136814888-Elena_Gallegos_Park-Albuquerque_New_Mexico.html https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/new-mexico/pino-trail As a post hike option: Lunch at nearby Annapurna's World Vegetarian Cafe at 5200 Eubank NE Suite E7 Albuquerque, NM 87111 (cross street Spain). Most dishes at Annapurna's are either vegan or can be made vegan. Please use care in ordering as some dishes at Annapurna's do contain dairy. Please respect all members of this ABQ Vegan Meetup event by ensuring that any food we bring along for the hike or order at the restaurant is completely plant-based (no meat, no dairy, no eggs, and no honey). If you would like to join for the lunch only that would be great too, but I can only predict a very approximate arrival time at the restaurant of 12 noon to 12:30 PM, to leave some flexibility for the speed of the hike.
