What we're about

One of the most positive, life affirming choices anyone can make for their health, all animals and the planet is to adopt and practice a vegan lifestyle. This group is for anyone who is already vegan or just curious and would like to learn more about this compassionate lifestyle choice. The meet-up is a non-judgmental place to have fun, get educated and connect with community. We host peaceful protests against cruelty to animals, leafletting (hand out vegan literature) and set up educational booths at events like Earth Day. This group also holds a vegan (plant based: no meat, no dairy, no eggs, and no honey) potluck on the first Saturday of every month! Since this group is run by three ethical vegans, anyone can contact us to suggest a meetup, but all of the events have to be vegan. :)

North Domingo Baca park

UPDATE: LOCATION AND TIME HAS CHANGED.

Next Cube of Truth is Sat, July 31 at North Domingo Baca Park

They always need as many activists as possible! The more participants the better to draw attention to the event. Can either just hold the screens (no talking required) or talk to the people who walk up to view the screens. Don't have to stay the whole time if can spare an hour to attend.

VERY IMPORTANT INFO FROM ORGANIZER:

This meetup is Hosted by Anonymous for the Voiceless!

If interested in volunteering, join the following group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/723992431126372/

The Cube of Truth is a peaceful static demonstration akin to an art performance. This demonstration operates in a structured manner that triggers curiosity and interest from the public; we attempt to lead bystanders to a vegan conclusion through a combination of local standard-practice animal exploitation footage and conversations with a value-based sales approach. Masks, signs, and outreach literature are provided. Black upper clothing appropriate for the weather is essential.

The Cube of Truth is a street outreach campaign that employs direct action with the public, in a structured manner. We use standard practice footage displayed on screens to expose the truth about animal agriculture to the public and one on one conversations to educate them about animal exploitation. Masks, signs, and outreach cards are provided by the organisers.

Always wear weather appropriate, PLAIN BLACK or AV branded clothing without any graphics, including logos of other organisations and/or vegan messages. This is essential to our aesthetic. You can purchase official AV clothing on our website: cubeoftruth.com. Absolutely no animal derived clothing and no fake fur (including faux fur trims) is to be worn at a Cube of Truth. Respect AV chapter organisers and other volunteers at all times, adhere to our structure and represent our core values while attending a Cube of Truth.

The seriousness and professionalism of our actions are directly proportional to how the public perceives us. Thank You for Standing With Us.

Pino Trail early morning hike with vegans!

Pino Trailhead

(Please read full description before RSVP-ing to avoid any misunderstandings.)

Let's head out for some hiking and socializing with other vegans in the cool of the early morning on the Pino Trail. We will enjoy beautiful views and we will get close enough to see and hear the Sandia Peak Tram.

Location: Pino Trailhead, Elena Gallegos Park, Albuquerque, NM 87111 (The parking lot is a counterclockwise loop. Meet at the 3rd trailhead as you circumnavigate the parking lot.) GPS coordinates[masked], [masked]

Price: $2 for parking. You may need exact change. Parking near the trailhead fills up fast so allowing a few extra minutes to walk from your parking space would be a good idea to help us to hit the trail on time.

There are porta-potty type facilities at the trailhead.

This is a moderately difficult hike so please be prepared with at least a moderate level of physical conditioning. The trail is relatively smooth, but there will be long sections of steep hills. There will be some shade in the higher section of the hike. We will not go to the top. The plan is to hike up the mountain for about an hour, and then turn around to return the way we came up, for a round trip total of 4 to 5 miles. Bring water!

More details about the trail are available at:

Please respect all members of this ABQ Vegan Meetup event by ensuring that any food or drinks that you bring on the hike are completely plant-based (no meat, no dairy, no eggs, and no honey).
