ACA Knot Passing Skills Practice Session - Davis/Weber County, UT

Sign-up preference will be given to those ACA MeetUp members who have not attended this practice session before
You will be moved to the 'Wait-list' if you have previously attended this event and can only attend if the practice session does not fill with new attendees.

This will be a practice session with an agenda to work on any of the ACA skills that the participants would like to practice. Topics will include items from the ACA Skills checklists. The Checklists can be found here: https://www.canyoneering.net/resources/

Bring a printed copy of the ACA Checklist with the top 3 skills that you will like to practice.

Bring your rope, helmet, gear and lets work on our skills. This is not a practice session for people who have not rappelled before. Attendance it is continually at the discretion of the instructor.

This is a FREE event, open to all ACA-Canyoneering Utah Facebook group Members.

Things to Note:

• We will be practicing at height! Skills will be practiced with weighted ropes.

• We will be outside; dress appropriately for anticipated weather - closed toe shoes, sunglasses, hat, sunscreen, windbreaker/jacket, and whatever else you may need to stay comfortable for the day.

• Bring snacks, water, etc. Bring a portable chair/cushion to sit on. Come prepared to take notes (pen, notebook, camera).

• This event will be cancelled if there is inclement weather.

• Do not come to this practice session if you do not want to be responsible for your own safety and well being. You are solely responsible for your own safety and well-being.

• By signing up for and/or attending this Meetup event, you acknowledge, understand, accept, and agree that: Canyoneering and other outdoor activities can be dangerous and can cause serious bodily injury and possibly death; The organizers of this meetup and current and former members cannot be held responsible or liable in any way for the actions of any participant - including you - at any event; You release and forever discharge the organizers jointly and severally from any actions, causes of actions, claims, damage, loss including death or injury which may be sustained from participating in this Meetup event.

ACA Intermediate/Advance Skills Practice Session - SLC

Attendance it is continually at the discretion of the instructor.
This will be an open practice session without a specific agenda to work on any skills that the participants would like to practice. We can get a group consensus on the skills that we would like to practice. Topics can include any item from the ACA Skills checklists such as canyon leadership, advanced anchors, toggle devices, sand traps, advanced rigging, haul systems, rescue conversions, pickoffs, rescue algorithm, rappelling, or other topics that the group chooses. Keeper Pothole Workshop - New skills, big fun!

For many canyoneer's, the ultimate in canyon obstacles is the Keeper Pothole. Wet or dry, deep and or wide, these bizarre sandstone features have thwarted many canyon adventures.

Join Excursions of Escalante for an introduction to potholes and begin learning the skill sets required to master these incredible features. Escalante is blessed with canyon “keepers” of nearly every shape, size and challenge level imaginable. This allows participants to spend the entire day experiencing (not simulating) a good variety of the pothole “problems” that exist in the wild.

We have a 9 Student Maximum ***You MUST HAVE solid rope skills and be a confident swimmer to participate in this course! NO EXCEPTIONS.

PREREQUISITES: Completion of Technical Canyoneering Course or equivalent experience. This course is not geared for beginner canyoneers. Must be an attendee of Pothole Fest, which follows directly for the next three days. Please inquire if additional information if needed.

Course meets at Excursions of Escalante, at 7:30AM. We return between 4pm-4:30pm. Students should plan to be with us for a minimum of 8 hours.

WORKSHOP RATE: $238 Per Person.
Includes coffee/tea in the morning & sorbet in the afternoon.
Sales tax and processing fees included.
(5 person minimum to conduct workshop)

The weather in Escalante can change quickly whether before the trip or during it. We expect that you come prepared with rain jacket/gear. Cancellation due to bad weather is determined day of the trip. All guests must be present at time of determination. If we determine that the weather would make the trip unsafe, and therefore cancel, you will receive a full refund.
