9 SPOTS LEFT!

It's official, the ACA has teamed up with the wonderful people of El Paraiso and Rawacala resorts to co-host the first canyoneering festival in Honduras! Join us for four days of training locals, informative workshops and typical ACA camaraderie...all in a pristine jungle setting.

Basic Details:
Spaces: 20
Dates: December 1-4, 2022.
Location: El Paraiso, Honduras. Rawacala Eco Park
Rate: $225
Includes: Registration, Local Guides, Workshops, T-shirt, canyon transportation.

The Goals:
-Introduce Honduras Canyons to ACA Members
-Final Prep of Canyon for Commercial Guiding
-Class C Workshop Opportunities
-Train Local groups
-Promote safe Canyoneering in the region.

*IMPORTANT NOTE: This Rondy will be focused on helping to train and re-certify the local guides, work out the final touches to Rawacala’s canyon and find ways to promote safe canyoneering in Honduras. We anticipate working with children's groups, women's groups, farmers, SAR, etc. This will surely offer excellent opportunities for ACA Leaders and Instructors to hone the crafts of teaching and assessing. It is open to those who are experienced travelers, have descended a minimum of 35 technical canyons, are strong swimmers who truly enjoy sharing their knowledge and time with others.

Full Details:
Eco-Adventure HQ: Rawacala eco-park is a private “playground” hidden in the dense jungle mountains of NW Honduras. This is the center for many of our canyoneering trips, workshops, and other activities. There is an incredible Class C canyon, several excellent training areas and a very cool zip-line to finish off the day. All on their private land, for guests to enjoy. https://www.facebook.com/rawacala/

Accommodations: El Paraiso Resort has a first class staff and is absolutely beautiful. The location is on the coast, in a setting of palm trees and children playing on quiet narrow roads…..it’s a pretty incredible canyoneering basecamp. Once registered for the event, contact the resort to make your reservation. www.paraisohotelhn.com. They will be ready to help.

Flights: Closest/best Intl Airport is aeropuerto Ramon Villeda Morales in San Pedro Sula (SAP). It is a small and modern airport with a food court. If meeting someone, it’s easy to find each other or locate your ride. Grab a window seat to check out the huge reef off of Belize, wow. https://goo.gl/maps/d12ykEQwb1AHcEBv5

Transportation: El Paraiso is approximately 1-1.5 hour drive from the airport. Roads are typically busy, but in good condition. There are standard transportation options including rental cars, taxis, and limo services. We are researching this and will post detailed information soon. Daily canyon (not airport) transport is included in your fee.

Food: The resort has two full-service restaurants overlooking the water. Breakfast is included with room rate and is simple and fresh. Lunches “to go” can be purchased for $10, coordinated upon arrival. Dinners are $10-$20, from a menu of regional favorites. A few tiny stores have snacks and a new grocery store is 10 minutes away.

Vaccinations: Aside from meeting COVID 19 travel requirements, consider getting vaccinated for some of the common regional diseases/illnesses. Standard bug protection works fine, but being diligent is wise. https://www.dfa.ie/travel/travel-advice/a-z-list-of-countries/honduras/
