What we're about

Sometimes it seems like all us atheists do is rail against the onslaught of organized religion and its influence on society. (I admit, I do my share of that.) But I’d also like to think we’re willing to give back to society with our minds and bodies, to help make a better world. So let’s do it! Working with LA Works, I’ll keep us abreast of good deeds we can do as a group – be it cleaning up a beach, helping the homeless, or whatever. Then we’ll have fun doing it, and maybe have a bite to eat after and socialize! What say you, LA atheists? (FYI, I am not looking for anyone to make monetary contributions. Money is tight these days! This group is for those of us who want to help out using nothing but our own elbow grease!)

Remote Volunteer Readers for Colorado (weekly)

Online event

If you are like me, you like to hear your own voice! (Just kidding) Here's an ongoing opportunity to remotely contribute to the Audio Information Network of Colorado. Please read the information at https://www.volunteermatch.org/search/opp53370.jsp to see if it is something you would like to do. I just sent my audition in and will be reading weekly ads for the network. They have all sorts of different needs. If you decide to try, please RSVP to this meetup (just because it'll be fun to see who is involved). Please keep us informed of what your status is and what you're reading in the comments. (This is an experiment since it's nothing like any other events we've done.) I'm going to make this a monthly event so you can post your status and participation in the comments. No obligation, but it would be fun to see what we're doing! **NOTE - For now please ignore the meeting date and time and location. This is just a place to announce the opportunity and to participate in the comments on what you are doing (if you would like)! There's also an app I haven't tried yet called BeMyEyes. Every day, sighted volunteers lend their eyes to solve tasks big and small to help blind and low-vision people lead more independent lives. It looks really interesting, but I think I'm a little over committed right now. https://www.bemyeyes.com/. Let me know in the comments if you decide to do it!
