Come and join AI for Mankind's tech talk series.
In this event, we will feature

1) Adam Kraft from Orbital Insight to talk about AI at Orbital Insight and how to use satellite imagery for humanitarian efforts.

2) Elisse Roche from Google to talk about Circular Economy 2030: Social entrepreneurship contest for a sustainable future.

Adam Kraft comes from Orbital Insight, where he works on large scale computer vision and machine learning. Orbital Insight is a Geospatial big data company leveraging the rapidly growing availability of satellite, UAV, and other geospatial data sources, to understand and characterize socio-economic trends at global, regional, and hyper-local scales. Orbital Insight uses recent advances in deep learning and cloud computing to process and understand the information available in millions of images. Prior to Orbital Insight, Adam worked at another big data company, Amazon, creating computer vision solutions to search for millions of products by pointing your camera phone.


Elisse Roche
Data for Social & Environmental Impact, Google Cloud

Elisse Roche leads initiatives around data for social and environmental impact at Google Cloud, which involves developing and launching programs that democratize access to data analytics and machine learning, exploring the potential of big data solutions to solve real-world challenges, and establishing purpose-driven partnerships. Most recently, Elisse launched: Data Solutions for Change, an accelerator program for nonprofits to employ data analytics and achieve their missions at scale; Visualize 2030, a data storytelling contest for higher-ed students; and Circular Economy 2030, a sustainability contest for social entrepreneurs. As a self-described "data poet," Elisse leverages her background in digital humanities to investigate the ways in which data and data analysis can express the state of the world today and effect positive change.
