In this event, we will feature

  1. Aleksandra Faust from Google Brain Robotics to talk about
    Robot navigation with automated reinforcement learning.
    Join the talk and learn about how the latest AI advancements can improve the independence of people with limited mobility by using service robots that can autonomously navigate long distances.

Aleksandra is the Deep Learning Task and Motion Planning Technical Lead and Manager at Google Brain Robotics. She is specializing in robot motion planning and reinforcement learning. Previously, Aleksandra led machine learning efforts for self-driving car planning and controls in Waymo, and was a researcher in Sandia National Laboratories. She earned a Ph.D. in Computer Science at the University of New Mexico (with distinction), and a Master's in Computer Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

  1. Olya Gurevich from Marvelous AI https://marvelous.ai/ to talk about Detecting Political Narratives with Human-in-the-loop NLP.

Marvelous.ai is developing natural language tools to analyze political discourse in news and social media especially in understanding how messaging spreads, both negatively (propaganda) and positively (pro-democracy campaigns). Here are some examples of the recent work:

Olya Gurevich is the Co-founder and Chief Scientist at Marvelous AI. She holds a PhD in Linguistics from UC Berkeley. She has been a computational linguist and data scientist at Powerset, Microsoft Bing, Topsy, and Apple's Siri. In 2018, she joined forces with Christopher Walker and Danielle Deibler to found Marvelous.ai, focusing on NLP tools to discover and counteract malicious narratives in public discourse.
