The October meetup will feature talks about Apache Flume NG (http://flume.apache.org/) and Common Crawl (http://commoncrawl.org/).
Kai Voigt is an Instructor at Cloudera and will talk about Apache Flume, a distributed, reliable, and available service for efficiently collecting, aggregating, and moving large amounts of log data. It has a simple and flexible architecture based on streaming data flows.
Lisa Green is Director at Common Crawl and will talk about building and maintaining an open crawl of the web. Lisa is motivated by a strong belief in the power of open systems to drive innovation in education, arts and research. Over the last several years she has been active in the areas of Open Access publishing, Open Science, Open Data, copyright, digital rights and policy.
