Jamaican Sunday Dinner 🔥

Ashs Plek is a culinary haven where the love of food is intricately woven into the fabric of Jamaican heritage, immersing you in a world of exquisite flavors influenced by West African, Indian, and South American cuisines, as well as the indigenous ingredients thriving in the island’s tropical climate.
In a Jamaican household, Sunday dinner is an important meal. A common joke is that in Jamaica, the chef of the household starts cooking Sunday dinner at the same time as preparing breakfast because of the time, effort and love that goes into preparing Sunday dinner for the family and neighbours or friends.

Sunday dinner at Ashs Plek is a chilled dinner with two courses served in sharing bowls so that guests can help themselves to as much or as little as they want.

To Start
Ackee and saltfish with Jamaican dumplings or Ackee and sweet peppers with Jamaican dumplings (vegan).

About the dish
Sauteéd white onions, garlic, sweet peppers, tomatoes, spring onions and thyme mixed with flakes of cod fish (or sweet peppers for the vegan friendly version) and topped with creamy ackee. Served with Jamaican fried dumplings.

Main
Jamaican chicken curry or Jamaican red lentil curry.

About the dish
Chicken marinated for 48 hours in a blend of aromatic spices (or red lentils) and then cooked with Jamaican curry powder. Served with steamed white rice and Jamaican coleslaw.
