Hi everyone!

We have so much going on again this month, just like August and the variety is great. However, it seems that we still struggle to get some of you out to join us so I wanted to create a forum on this message board for you to post the ideas you have for things to do and your organizers will try to schedule around your wishes and/or cross post with a group who are already posting like events.

In addition, please let us know if you struggle to get to us because of location and need us to schedule something closer ~ Cindy suggested movie nights in different locations as one idea. I know lots of events are far to drive to, believe me I travel at least an hour from Norwalk to many of them smile

I do miss local movie nights with talk afterward at a local pub. Personally would prefer Bethel, Danbury, New Milford theaters.

Hi Organizers: I think the fact that you are asking the members for input is a sign of great leadership. So kudos to you! I personally enjoy particpating in physical activities /sports the most (biking, hiking, to name some of my favorites). I think having fun in a more natural atmosphere and while actively engaged in group activies is a wonderful way to get to know others. I agree that a movie night is an excellent idea as was mentioned by Linda Q (Friday night pizza and a movie??). I like the idea of dining out (with some really good conversationalists); going to a play or concert; day trips to visit places of interest such as a museum would be fun too. Going into NYC is always exciting...And I enjoy going to house parties ....The different seasons foster some specific acitivies that could be enjoyable to many (a day trip to view the fall foliage coming up-heck let's rent a bus, a Halloween costume party, anyone?, pumpkin picking/hay rides, I am sure you get the picture..) I have never been to a casino and have a tiny bit of interest in experiencing that once anyway. I am not an experienced bowler (euphemistically stated) but others may enjoy that. Rollerskating/rollerblading can be fun also. How about joining forces with United Way and do some volunteering as a group annually? Social Sundays at the Holiday Inn sounds good too (free dance lessons 7-730) - I would go if some others from the group were interested. Perhaps some others would be interested in going to a sporting event (baseball, football. hockey...) Along with conflicts in scheduling, logistics and events held during the week can personally prevent me from participating in some of the posted events. (I live in the Danbury area.) I think joining forces with other Singles groups on occasion is a great idea.

Thank you for your input Linda & Laura.

Cindy is working on starting movie nights again for the fall.

Bruce & assistants are currently working on a Halloween costume party (date and location) and I post hikes followed by brunch all the time for Sunday mornings... the next one is a good one; Castle Craig (there are people willing to car pool if you want).

We will definitely take all the suggestions under consideration and try to work them in.

We are also looking at a Presidential Election night party at the Lumber Yard Pub in West Redding (next to the Georgetown Salloon) I have talked to management and they are up for it. Also, That same venue is closed on Tuesday nights and they have offered it to us for our Singles Groups. Ie, ASM&FW, SGW, Kismet etc (even with sparks members).

Comments, Suggestions.....

Linda and Laura,

As Sylvia just mentioned, I am working on scheduling a bi-weekly movie event. Since our members are geographically dispersed, I would like to aleternate locations between the Danbury/Brookfield/New Fairfield area as well as Stamford/Norwalk/Fairfield, Bridgeport/Stratford/Milford and Waterbury areas.

I would like to schedule an apple picking as well as a pumpkin picking event. My 2 sons work at an annual "Haunted Hayride" event at a local farm on Fri and Sat nights in October. We could combine this for an event of pumpkin picking, dinner, haunted hayride, drinks.

MsCath has been scheduling cultural events in NYC. She has one scheduled for 9/7. What fun it would be if we could all take the train to NYC in Dec to see the tree in Rockerfeller Center and do some shopping and enjoy having a nice dinner together.

Bruce, what a great idea for an election night party!! Unfortunately I won't be able to attend as I work for my town's registrar's office. So I will be working as a ballot clerk that day and we have parties planned at our local Dem & Rep headquarters which I will be attending.

Remember that in Bethel Mon & Tues nights have reduced pricing & another night links a restaurant meal to a free movie ticket.

Announcing the ASM & FW Costume party. That right folks, this will be the most unusual costume party in our or any meetup's history. There will be a prize for the person who is the least recognizable in our group. We will all be dressed in a way that most of us have never seen each other. You will obviously have made your own costume over a period of many years. Some of the costumes will be a surprise to your friends and maybe even you!!! It will be held at the Tri-State nudest colony.

DISCLAIMER: There will be defibrillators and smelling salts on hand for those who are faint of heart. Blinders will be issued to those who scare easily and patrons may wear full head masks just in case the paparazzi arrive. The forgoing event is of course purely fictional and will of course never take place. But can you imagine???

Hello Soony2,
Thanks for taking the time to pose the question. The group seems fantastic, but I havent been here long enough to answer the title question. From what I have experienced so far, an astounding yes to my needs.
Below are some random thoughts. You would know better which ones could be practical:
"Amazing Single Men Who Cook and Serve the Fabulous Women" something like that.
Help a charity. Its nice because its over a span of time and the feeling is always good.
Habitat, Americares, Clean up on earth day, adopt a food bank, support animal rescue group. Toys for tots
The cruise up the river drinks dancing dinner.
Mystic, Sturbridge, Historic Windsor VT. Shaker Village.
Applepicking in the fall. Maybe carve a pumpkin Haywagon rides aren't only for children

As Always,
