Haunted Hike Series: Nancy & Norcross Pond
This is not a 20's & 30's specific hike, but should be a great time. Clicking "going" on Facebook/Meetup does not guarantee a spot, nor does ether site reflect actual attendance, please contact me directly through the link. https://activities.outdoors.org/search/index.cfm/action/details/id/105319 Hey everyone, I am pleased to announce the start of the Haunted Hike Series. On these hikes, we will explore an area away from a a major peak that has a legend or history that surrounds it. In addition to hiking the area, we'll have a historian on our hike to let you know the stories behind these beautiful places. Our third hike will be to Nancy and Norcross Ponds in Crawford Notch. Nancy Pond is named for Nancy Barton who passed away in the area while attempting to track down her employer and fiancee, who were having a secret meeting in the woods. The hike is 8.5 miles over fairly steep and rough terrain. The route is mostly along a brook, featuring really nice cascades, as well as both ponds. Participants should have experience with similar distance hikes in the White Mountains. Registration is required and candidates will be screened. This is a group hike, and we will stay together. Other hikes in the series: May 6: Madam Sherri's Forest, Mt Wantiastiquet July 8: Bridal Veil Falls, Franconia Hikes may be canceled or modified at the leaders' discretion. Additionally hikes may be added at a later date, please sign up for each individually with the respective leader(s).

What we're about

We are the Appalachian Mountain Club New Hampshire Chapters' Young Members/20's & 30's Group. The New Hampshire Chapter Young Members/20's & 30's Group's goal is to keep people in their 20’s and 30’s involved in AMC activities. We are hoping to increase young membership in the AMC and to ensure that the chapters remains strong and active well into the future. The young members committee will work in conjunction with other committees to plan workshops, trips, and events geared towards younger members. Our activities include, but are not limited to hiking, camping, skiing, rock climbing and social events. While our events are targeted, and primarily attended by those in their 20's and 30's, all are welcome.

I also encourage you to join the facebook group we share with the Maine Young Members, sign up for our monthly email and check out the AMC's website. We are a bit more active over on those sites than we are on meetup. Several other sub-groups of our club also run meetup pages, I encourage you to check them out as well.

Please note, all events on this page are advertisements. Official registration requires contacting the leader/hosts through the provided link on outdoors.org. Meetup typically does not guarantee you a spot, nor does it necessarily reflect who may actually be going, as we cross post these trips to several other places around the internet!

Our Mission Statement: Founded in 1876, the Appalachian Mountain Club promotes the protection, enjoyment, and understanding of the mountains, forests, waters, and trails of America’s Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions. We believe these resources have intrinsic worth and also provide recreational opportunities, spiritual renewal, and ecological and economic health for the region. Because successful conservation depends on active engagement with the outdoors, we encourage people to experience, learn about, and appreciate the natural world.

I really hope you can join us in the great outdoors!
