What we're about

The Association of Oregon Rail and Transit Advocates is a 501(c)(3) non-profit citizen advocacy group working to educate the public about the need for safe, fiscally responsible, environmentally sound transportation since 1976. It is also known as the Oregon Association of Railway Passengers (OreARP). AORTA works cooperatively with the National Association of Railroad Passengers (NARP) while maintaining its autonomy.

AORTA works to improve intercity passenger trains, commuter rail, light rail, streetcars and buses. We promote communities with a bicycle and pedestrian friendly environment. We work to ensure both people and freight are able to move safely and efficiently, while minimizing adverse impacts on the environment. We work for communities in which both people and businesses will thrive.

The AORTA Office is located in Portland's Union Station, 800 NW 6th Avenue, Suite 253, Portland, Oregon 97209.
