About us
ARTEMIS is a social/activity group for adult women and femmes, including diverse gender expression, of adult age* living in the New York City metro area who have either been formally or self-diagnosed with some form of autism or related diagnoses. The group is organized by an autistic woman (not a mental health professional) and is loosely affiliated with GRASP, who’s role is helping to pay the meetup fees and providing some spaces to meet only.
THIS IS NOT A GROUP FOR PARENTS OF AUTISTIC CHILDREN unless of course they themselves are on the spectrum.
Connect with other women and others with similar backgrounds and communication styles through get-togethers, creative expression workshops, visits to museums and other cool places around the city, and whatever other activities that the group would be interested in doing -- I would love to have people suggest things they'd like to do in the future or host and plan events if they are interested in doing so.
ARTEMIS aims to be a non-judgemental, drama-free zone where you can feel safe to be yourself and relax with other people who "get it" with the eventual goal of building a small group of friends. I will aim to plan a meet-up once a month and the meetups will be mostly in manhattan or the boroughs of NYC.
This group is an LGBTQ safe space, meaning, among others, trans women, genderqueer, non-binary people are entirely welcome, however the space maintains a primarily feminine culture and energy.
