AWS Well-Architected Workshop and Amazon Athena Hands-on Lab

The AWS Loft is running a couple of great events on Friday, October 13th that we wanted to spotlight here:

• AWS Well-Architected Workshops - 10am-12pm: Learn how to build and improve the quality of your AWS applications using our architectural best practices. The AWS Well-Architected workshop is a free, advanced-level hands-on event that helps customers develop AWS workloads that are reliable, secure, cost-optimized, and high-performing. Attendees can use the program to learn about AWS best practices, run a Well-Architected review on their workload, identify areas of improvement, and build a plan for remediation. Recommend prerequisites: Strong working knowledge of AWS core services and features, as well as previous architectural experience. • Amazon Athena Hands-on Lab - 10am-1:45pm: In this session, we will show you how Amazon Athena makes it easy to query your data stored in S3. First we will use Athena to create the schema for data already in S3. Second, we will demonstrate how you can run interactive queries through the built-in query editor. Lastly, we will visualize the data using Amazon QuickSight. Throughout the session we will provide best practices for structuring SQL queries, selecting file formats, and strategies to improve performance and reduce costs when querying data with Athena.
