- Using AWS X-Ray for metrics and application awareness - Doug Toppin.

The AWS X-Ray service provides the ability to add metrics to your applications with minimal development effort and cost. These metrics can provide application service access, timing and service call outcome information. The metric data can be provided for all usages or sampled at a desired rate to reduce the cost of the service. Within 2 days of my first use of X-Ray it proved its value by identifying the location of a slow down during request processing. This talk will contain an overview of X-Ray and an example using a Python Flask service running in Fargate.

- AWS HackDay - From Problem to Implementation in 14 Hours - Vinit Patankar and Robert Donovan.

This talk is about our Solution Proposed to the UNHCR during the AWS Public Sector Summit Hack Day challenge.
We implemented a POC leveraging the Comprehend Custom Entity Detection Service to re-classify the data to a Persona. Once reclassified, we exposed an API using Serverless Stack and Serverless Application Model to generate a response payload that can not only leverage the model but also be consumed in multiple platforms including Social Media to provide actionable content to the donors.
