For our second “ask me anything” (AMA) session, we are delighted to have the fantastic Jeff Barr (@jeffbarr) VP & Chief Evangelist, Amazon Web Services join us on our Discord server to answer your questions.

Jeff joined Amazon in 2002, became the company’s first web services evangelist in 2003, and founded the AWS News Blog in 2004. In his role as Chief Evangelist, Jeff strives to explain the benefits of cloud computing and web services to anyone who will listen. He has written over 3000 posts for the AWS Blog and another 1100 for his personal blog, records weekly AWS update videos, and maintains an active social media presence.

Jeff earned his Bachelor’s degree in computer science from American University and his Master’s degree in Communication and Digital Media from the University of Washington. Before coming to Amazon, Jeff held development and management positions at Microsoft, KnowNow, eByz, and Akopia, and was a co-founder of Visix Software.

Jeff has been a technical reviewer for 4 books on web services, wrote a chapter on advanced scripting for a book on Second Life, and is the author of Host Your Website in the Cloud, published by SitePoint in 2010.

Jeff will start replying to your questions live at 6pm, 16th June and you can also ask your questions during the live session. Note that this text message AMA not voice.

  2. During the live event - we open up the channel so free feel to add messages, questions, replies, reactions etc but please allow time for Jeff to respond.

  3. Please feel free to upvote any question in this channel.

  4. The questions with the most votes will be answered by Jeff, however Jeff is free to answer, or not, any question posted in this channel.

  • First check that no one else has asked the same/similar question.
  • Keep your questions short and to the point
