See all- AUGM - Community Meet-Up w/ Toyah HoetzelThe Channel, Southbank, VI
AUGM is on again for August 2023, and this time we're joined by special guest speaker, Toyah Hoetzel!
***
Toyah is a songwriter, producer, mixing & mastering engineer who grew up in the inner northern suburbs of Melbourne. Obsessed with sound from a young age, instrument lessons were a necessity and this grew to attending a high school with a specialised music program.
Later becoming a touring DJ in the queer club scene Toyah felt unsatisfied with the praise he was getting from playing shows and set out to learn to write and produce by attending classes at Melbourne's School of Synthesis which led to beginning a composition and production degree at the Australian Institute of Music before moving over to complete a Bachelor of Music Production at Collarts. During this time Toyah released a few locally successful tracks including Madness This Love with Rya Park and Together which were both licensed for synced advertising.
After setting up BroadRecords.com during the beginning of the pandemic, Toyah has worked for Simona Castricum, nitefruit, Light Transmissions, JoJu and m8riarchy in production and mix consulting, private coaching, mixing & mastering and assistant stage tech for shows for m8riarchy and Simona Castricum. Toyah has just completed the forthcoming debut album by duo m8riarchy.
Toyah will go over a track or two from m8rirachy's debut unreleased album where he'll discuss workflow, the importance of keeping sessions tidy for a person who has ADHD and his methodology around beginning mix sessions and keeping the momentum flowing.
He will discuss mastering and how he likes to approach most mix jobs that also require mastering 'top down' and how it can improve your time management and overall result, and lastly how to minimise CPU blow out on large sessions you get from clients while using high grade plugins.

Also on the night will be an opportunity for community members to showcase and get feedback on their own music! If you'd like your music played, make sure to join us on Discord and keep an eye out for details.

Hosted bi-monthly in The Channel and supported by Arts Centre Melbourne, our community get-togethers are a space for producers, musicians and likeminded creatives to connect.
Come and learn from some of the best and brightest electronic producers and performers as they present their works-in-progress and share the tricks, tips and techniques that take their music to the next level.
If you’re a Live beginner or a seasoned electronic music veteran, there’s always something new to learn at these meet-up sessions.
We're extremely grateful to have a partnership with Arts Centre Melbourne's "The Channel", who allow us to use their amazing space, which is part of the Hamer Hall complex on the Yarra River, just a couple of minutes walk from Flinders Street Station in the CBD.
AUGM is a user and a volunteer run community program and not officially administered by Ableton.
