Greetings Action Designers,

This Monday (07 May) is this month's Project Night. We'll be meeting at CIC Boston,18th Floor, on Milk Street. Please bring a Photo ID to check in with at the lobby security desk.

RSVP here >

This week we'll be hosting a presentation with Dan Zollman, Information Architect and organizer of the discussion group on Ethical Technology and Ethical Design, and at 7:30 we'll have a workshop with Action Design member Alba Villamil.

About the workshop:

The U.N. estimates that violence has displaced about 11 million Syrians from their homes since 2011. Host countries like Turkey and Jordan have struggled to integrate this influx of refugees. This presentation introduces a startup that was founded to address the population's high rates of poverty. The discussion will focus on the design challenges the team faces retaining and engaging refugee users.

About the presenter:
Alba N. Villamil is a User Experience Researcher interested in the intersection of technology and social impact. In addition to working with pre-stage startups, she has worked on projects for the Rochester City School District and the Harvard School of Public Health. She studied sociology at Harvard University and social psychology at Swarthmore College.

About Project Nights:
Open project nights are monthly meetings the held first Monday of the month. They're a chance for you to discuss, network, trade skills, and get involved with projects that change Boston for the better. This is an opportunity for members to meet other locals practitioners and those interested in what Action Design covers in a more casual setting. We'll also have working groups for ongoing projects. People are encouraged to bring and share snacks too if interested.

If you're looking for feedback or have a project that you're interested in sharing with the group, let us know before the night of the event. Open Project nights are a collaboration between Action Design and CIC Boston.
