Discussion Group: Happiness and How Products Can Facilitate It

Welcome to another Action Design Discussion Group! In this meetup, we will holding an interactive discussion among group members on behavioral psychology and design topics.

This month, we'll be focusing on happiness. While a simple sounding topic at the surface, psychologists and social scientists have uncovered a wide variety of evidence showing what really makes us happy. Often, this evidence is counter intuitive to our instincts.

A product or startup working to find success in changing the behavior of its users is probably hoping that behavior improves their life and, in turn, their happiness. What can companies or products do to drive that positive emotion?

In this discussion, we will focus on some of the best research, literature and real world examples of happiness and share each others' experiences in leveraging such information in the real world. We will send out some materials to review before the meeting and provide an outline for the conversation, but the goal is to have a wide ranging discussion of your insights, thoughts and applications on the topic.

The conversation will begin at 7 PM sharp. There is no opening social time as in our traditional meetups, so please arrive on time.

As a reminder, the event tonight is at Hellowallet, located at 2121 Ward Court Northwest, Washington, DC 20037. It's tucked away off the main roads a bit, so make sure to look up directions ahead of time. You can get on Ward Ct from Ward Pl, which can be accessed from 22nd St. NW or New Hampshire Ave (it is a one way street, with NH Ave being the exit). The metro stations at Foggy Bottom, Farragut North or West and Dupont Circle are all walkable. There is no specific parking available, so if you're driving, give extra time to find street parking. There will be a sign at the front door with a number to call so we can let you into the building.

We'll be starting at 7 PM sharp. See you tonight!
