    What we're about

This is a group for baby boomers committed to an active livestyle. If you're a part of the baby boomer generation (born 1946 - 1964), forever young, active and enjoy making new friends, mingling and socializing, join me in this supportive community of thriving boomers. Boomers who are enjoying an active lifestyle and want to connect with other friendly, fun-loving boomers at all skill levels are welcome.

We hope our members develop & foster lifelong friendships and have the opportunity to meet others to share with shared interests, hobbies and passions. Perhaps you enjoy a sport or hobby and would like to partner with others to share your passion. Members will be encouraged to connect with other members, make new friends and organize activities. I look forward to being a part of a community of active, awesome, Thriving Boomers.

"Getting older is inevitable. It just means moving through space. Aging, on the other hand is optional."
Mario Martinez, The Mind Body Code

The goal of this group is to promote and support an active lifestyle and to facilitate mingling, socializing and having fun with our peers. We hope our members develop & foster lifelong friendships and have the opportunity to meet others with shared interests, hobbies and passions.

When participating in a group, it is important to remember that your actions affect the group. To provide a setting where everyone is comfortable and at ease with getting to know each other, we ask that all members adhere to the following.

Please do not RSVP for an activity if your schedule is subject to change. It's especially frustrating and unfair to fellow members when members cancel at the last minute or don't show up. Please try to avoid cancelling within one week of a particular activity. If making plans and commitments is not something you're good at, this is not the group for you. No "flakes" please.

We understand stuff happens. An occasional cancellation may be unavoidable. Members are responsible for updating their RSVP status when cancelling becomes necessary.

Unless otherwise specifically stated our events are for members only. We welcome new participants. However, we ask that they submit a request for membership approval before attending an event. Also, dogs are not allowed on hikes or other activities.

ABT is not a business networking group. Solicitations (verbal and/or written) are strictly prohibited within the group.

Your posted photo and answers to profile questions provide your introduction to other group members. A posted photo of yourself is required. It should be a clear recognizable headshot of you looking into the camera by yourself. Your picture must remain on your profile at all times.

Our activities will reflect the interests and imagination of our members. The success of ABT is driven by the enthusiasm and engagement of our members. We need and welcome ideas and suggestions for activities. We also need organizers to plan, schedule and organize activities.

If a member hasn't attended an event within 60 days of joining or within 3 months of active membership, their ABT membership may be terminated.

Out of consideration to fellow Thriving Boomers, we ask that everyone turn off or silence cell phones during our activities. If you need to take a call or text, please excuse yourself from the group while doing so.

Please read the description of an event carefully before attending to see if it is suitable for you. Please do not participate if the event is not suitable for you. I am a volunteer (i.e. not liable for the group). Safety is a priority for everyone in the group. Each individual is responsible for his or her safety.

All participants take full responsibility for their own actions. If you choose to participate in any Active Boomers Thriving events, you are releasing ABT, Meetup and it's organizers from all liability in case of possible injuries, death and loss of or damage to property.

In order to sustain the group and maintain our Meetup website, members will be asked to contribute $5.00 semiannually starting August 1, 2018.
