Roaring Brook hike Sunday 5/3/15

Hi, This is  Charlie. I want to make some comments & suggestions for the Roaring Brook hike tomorrow (5/3).  I notice on our past hikes that people are bringing heavy back packs & poles also.  These hikes are only two hours long & it is not necessary to burden your self with that extra weight. If you need water, just bring a fanny pack. You need to keep both hands free on the hike in case you fall. Carrying a bottle of water is counter productive. Leave the poles at home. They are dangerous & give you a false sense of security.

I am sure  everyone knows that there are huge numbers signed up for this hike tomorrow. If you can car pool with someone, that would be great. The parking here is not unlimited. You can look at the list of people attending & E Mail them, if you live in the same town or close by.  While the hike starts at 9:30AM, coming about 8:45AM would be smart & less hectic for you. If you are new to the hike, come down & sign in with me before the hike. I will be at the entrance to the park. You can pick up the new hike schedule & our lunch directions. We will be meeting at The Dragon Buffet right after the hike. The price with tax & tip is $10: The address is 944 So. Main Street in Cheshire. It is a Green building on the left as you go South on route 10. There is plenty of parking across the street in the shopping plaza.

Finally I would appreciate it if you thank our hard working staff of hike leaders & assistant organizers. This group does not work without them. They come out & research all the trails before each hike. We always hike in four skill levels & you

need to be in the correct level. Before the hike, I will break the groups down. What ever group you go in, please do not over estimate your abilities. Keep up with the hike leaders & do not go ahead of them. We welcome people taking pictures. Make sure there are people in them. The scenery should be in the rear or to the side of the people. It should be in the 70s tomorrow. Don't over dress. I wish everyone an enjoyable & very social hike.      Thanks  Charlie
