Workshop: Introduction to Hugo

Details
Our policy:
Our workshops are targeted at women in particular, since our main goal and purpose is to help increase female representation in the IT world. Regardless, that doesn't mean that we don't accept male attendees as well, as long as they abide by a simple rule: if they want to come, they must be accompanied by a woman 👫🙂
Since we need to provide an assistants list📝 to our host, you need to sign up with a real name, not an alias or nickname. For the same reason, you'll need to provide your guests name(s) if you are going to bring someone.
👋 Hello there Adas!
Ever wanted to create your own websites or blogs but it looks complicated 🤯 and slow? A static site generator may be your solution, and Hugo (https://gohugo.io) is one of the best! Easy to manage even for non-technical users, fast to compile, very powerful when you dive in and with a huge community to solve your doubts👏!
On this hands-on 👩💻 introduction, you will create a website from scratch, using predefined themes and customising them to your needs. You will also learn how to use and create "plugins" for third party services, create multi-language 🤓 content, and deploy all of that as a public website.
🕖 Schedule
9:30 - Doors open & breakfast ☕
10:00 - Workshop
🎤 Our speaker:
Paqui is a co-organizer of AdaJS with more than 5 years of experience as a frontend developer, currently working at Adevinta. She has also done several talks 🎤 and workshops in national events.
Despite her insistence on seeking for dangerous hobbies 🤕 that are not considered extreme sports, Paqui still has all of her fingers in perfect condition. You cannot say the same about her knees, but you don't need those for programming, right?
💻Requirements:
- Basic knowledge of Git, HTML and using CLIs.
- Bring your own laptop (and charger!) with:
- Git
- Homebrew (if it's a MacOs or Linux)
If you want an easier beginning, try installing Hugo (https://gohugo.io/getting-started/installing/) on your own.
Thanks to SKYLAB for hosting us 💜
