Excited to announce the second meetup & what a lineup we have for you! AI is currently being used across the world to help advance medical diagnosis & treatments. Our 1st speaker is Dr. Jonathan Hall from Life Whisperer – an award winning, med-tech startup. Jonathan will provide an overview of Life Whisperer, outcomes of clinical studies, along with a system demo.

Our second speaker is Beth Worrall from Microsoft. Beth leads the National Skills Program, which is tasked with helping build Australia's future-ready workforce. Given the impact AI & emerging tech is having on jobs of the future, Beth brings valuable insights into addressing the gaps in digital skills along with how Microsoft is supporting AI start-ups. Beth will present on "AI & the Future of Work – a case for cautious optimism."

Dr Jonathan Hall is a Co-Founder & Director of cutting-edge med-tech startup Life Whisperer & CTO of Presagen. Jonathan is the inventor of Life Whisperer’s deep-learning & computer-vision technology, which looks at human embryos to help couples have children through IVF. Jonathan has PhD's in both theoretical physics and nanotechnology & retains Associate Investigator status in the Centre for Nanoscale BioPhotonics. Life Whisperer & Presagen are firmly placed on the world stage, with recognition as Startup of the Year & Machine Learning/Big Data Innovation of the Year in SA at the AIIA awards. Life Whisperer was nominated for the finals at TechCrunch Startup Battlefield Australia in 2017, & was awarded ‘Global Winner - One to Watch’ for the APAC region at TalentUnleashed, as judged by Richard Branson & Steve Wozniak.

A corporate responsibility professional, Beth Worrall has held senior roles spanning technology, banking, health, resources, engineering, government & social entrepreneurship. Having started her career at Microsoft, Beth has recently returned to the company to lead the National Skills Agenda from Adelaide. As a mentor of young people & a mother of a toddler, Beth cares passionately about the future of work. What will the future hold? How do we prepare our children? What are the risks but, more importantly, what are the opportunities?
Co-investment by SA Gov & Uni of Adelaide saw the concept of Australia’s first institute dedicated to research in ML come to fruition. In early 2018, the AIML was officially established. AIML's world-class research strengths lie in ML & the methods that support this; AI, computer vision & DL.
