Summingbird, Scala and Storm (Sam Ritchie, Twitter)

Details
Sam Ritchie (@sritchie (https://twitter.com/sritchie)) from Twitter is going to talk about Summingbird (https://blog.twitter.com/2013/streaming-mapreduce-with-summingbird), a library for performing computations across Storm and Hadoop, written in Scala.
Summingbird is a library that lets you write streaming MapReduce programs that look like native Scala or Java collection transformations and execute them on a number of well-known distributed MapReduce platforms like Storm (http://storm-project.net/) and Scalding (https://github.com/twitter/scalding).
Sam will also talk about using Scala in Storm, and discuss why Scala is particularly well-suited to this work.
