• 🌳🥾 Humber River Walk (11 Km) - Sun, Mar 26

    Etienne Brulé Park

    Let's take a scenic walking tour of the Humber River, one of Toronto's natural and historic treasures. The Humber was designated a Canadian Heritage River in 1999. A plaque commemorating this event is located in Brule Park.
    More than 25 fish species inhabit this part of the river, and the area is home to many species of birds and other wildlife. Our walk begins at Etienne Brulé Park, located within walking distance from Old Mill Subway station. Length: 11 Km

    • EVENT CATEGORY: Nature Walk
    • DIFFICULTY LEVEL: Beginner – All walking/hiking levels welcome!
    • WHAT TO BRING: Water (at least 1 L), lunch, snacks, appropriate clothing and footwear, hat, camera, cellphone, cash for personal expenses and/or TTC ride.
    • POST-EVENT: Refreshments at a casual pub in Bloor West Village. OPTIONAL (around 5:00 PM)
    • WEATHER POLICY: In the event of harsh weather, this walk will be cancelled. The hike leader will monitor the weather forecast and notify all registered members at least 24 hours in advance to confirm or cancel the event.
    • TOTAL HIKING TIME: 3-4 hours hiking including lunch and stops, depending on overall group pace.
    • TIMELINE

    Travel to Etienne Brulé Park by car or public transit and meet our group there NO LATER than 1:00 PM. The hike will start promptly at 1:15 PM

    We will not wait for anyone after 1:15 PM. It is not okay to join the event or call the Organizer after the event starts at 1:15 PM.

    DIRECTIONS

    • By Car: Parking is available at the park entrance, just East of the Old Mill Bridge on Old Mill Road.
    • By TTC: From Old Mill Station, turn right toward Old Mill Rd. At the stop sign, turn right again toward the Old Mill Inn. Just past the Inn there is an old bridge, cross the Old Mill Bridge. Turn left and you will find the Parking Lot at Etienne Brulé Park.

    Rouge Valley Conservation Centre

    Let's explore Rouge National Urban Park, Canada's first national park within a city. Located in Scarborough, this urban park is a wildlife and nature refuge right here in our city's "backyard".

    • EVENT CATEGORY: Urban Hike - Scenic
    • DIFFICULTY LEVEL: Intermediate -- Recent experience hiking 12 km or more required.
    • WHAT TO BRING: Water (at least 1 L), lunch, snacks, appropriate clothing and footwear, hat, camera, cellphone, cash for personal expenses and/or TTC ride.
    • POST-EVENT: TBD
    • WEATHER POLICY: In the event of harsh weather, this walk will be cancelled. The hike leader will monitor the weather forecast and notify all registered members at least 24 hours in advance to confirm or cancel the event.

    • By TTC: From Kennedy Subway Station, take Bus 86A Scarborough towards the Toronto Zoo. Get off at Zoo Road stop, one stop BEFORE the Toronto Zoo. Walk 100 m to the right down Zoo Road and you will arrive at the Rouge Valley Conservation Centre.
