5 MILES, BEST HIKE FOR SCENERY: many miles along a beautiful stretch of the ENO RIVER on each bank, mature forests on the "mts.", old mill site, flood plains, wildlife-maybe a blue heron +. Holden Mill Trail is not closed-just not easily reached without adding 3.2 miles out and back on Ridge and Fieldstone Trails; however, we will be able to add Buckwater Creek trail for more time right on the river for 2.2 miles. Those who want 10 miles can do Cox's Mt. twice.EXERCISE:
5 miles(only .75 miles of backtracking) with uphills and rocky trails. 5 mile COX'S MT. LOOP(elevation gain 275'-NO LONGER THE TOUGHEST HILL IN Triangle the way we will do it, they rerouted the trail from a steep uphill to an easy ascent) +FANNY'S FORD, with our finish near the parking lot. http://www.ncparks.gov to find a park to Eno.SOMEWHAT FIT HIKERS for distance, EASY uphills, and rough trails. there will be brief stops for lunch, to regroup, and more BRING: water-2 liters at least , layers for the weather, hat, maybe trek pole, camera-, sturdy footware-boots best for mud-rocks. DURATION: 2- 2.5hours for total hike with lunch, stops for wildlife, nature, etc.. Looks like it will be near 65 for the hike.

OPTION: BUCKWATER CREEK TRAIL-2.2 MILES out and back and right on the river bank the entire way.
OPTION 2: 8 MILES- 2.2 BUCKWATER and return, 2 MILES on RIDGE TRAIL out and back, 1.2 MILES on FIELDSTONE TRAIL out and back to connect with HOLDEN MILL LOOP for 2.6 MILES. This would be a good hike for another time.
Afterwards, those who wish can regroup in Hillsborough at Weaver ST Market for beverages or food.
