Help us restore Sycamore Mess Hall so that it can be open for public use for the first time in almost 30 years. It first opened to the Public in 1937.

We will be working on the tables and benches for the Mess Hall, as well as the kitchen ceiling. If we have folks with carpentry skills, we'll also be re-hinging the window screens. Bench/table repairs will be also be available for those of you with carpentry skills.

Park Bike and Bridle Trail Head (off US70 entrance). Questions:[masked] Jean at Umstead Coalition

We cross link this service day with a couple event managers. We anticipated we will have about 10-15 volunteers.

We would welcome your help for whatever time you have to offer. Feel free to come anytime during event times. Registration helps us with planning of food (lunch and snacks provided) and supplies. Dress with work clothes for painting, scraping, cleaning. Service event will take place rain or shine.

DIRECTIONS: Enter Park from Glenwood Avenue. Follow signs to Multi-Use Trail Head. Take first left past Visitor Center, then first right, than first left onto Sycamore Road. Follow Sycamore Road til it ends in a gravel parking lot. Mess Hall is the right in the trees as you enter parking lot. Park in gravel parking lot and walk in.
