The African Tech Startup Ecosystem Nairobi group is managed by the Kaleidoscope Africa initiative.
We are a non-profit initiative for, by and with the entrepreneurship community of Nairobi. Our aim is to organize regular networking events with unique and exciting professional content. Our target audiences are entrepreneurs, technologists, engineers, venture capitalists, angel investors, educators, financial professionals, corporate executives, attorneys, academics, bloggers, writers, content creators, and social activists.
Our mission is to build a vibrant, international entrepreneurial community in Nairobi, with memorable disucssions, presentations and content, creating deep, lasting business and social relationships.
Kenya is one of the hottest investment destinations in Africa. Young, innovative startups are attracting investments at an unprecedented rate, while international Venture Capital (VC) firms are flocking to Nairobi like never before.
Nairobi and Silicon Valley are far apart, though. Not just in terms of kilometers. Goals and mindsets are also widely different, and the approaches to building and scaling startups, may even be on different planets.
The understanding gaps become obvious in the encounter between Kenyan startups and international VCs, when expectations and interpretations differ sharply.
How can Kenyan startups better prepare themselves for the international VCs, and what do the VCs need to understand before sitting down with their next prospective investment case?
Meet our panel of seasoned entrepreneurs and investors, and get their answers.
