We're back! After our extended hiatus searching for a new home, we have found an incredibly generous friend in M&T Bank.

Will kick off the session at 6:30 with open networking at 6.

In our first session back, Mike Bowler will coach us through a few technical practices using Legos!

Mike is a coach and trainer who helps software teams improve the way they work. He's been writing code for over thirty years and has been an active member of the Agile community since 1999. He blends his strong technical background with a deep understanding of Agile and Lean methods to help teams consistently improve how they deliver value to their customers

Technical Practices in LEGO
Abstract: Looking for a way to teach technical topics that maximizes learning and is also fun and engaging? It turns out that we learn best when we’re in a playful state so we use LEGO to teach technical concepts. We started this to teach non-technical people and quickly discovered that programmers love LEGO too.

In this session, we’ll walk you though these exercises to demonstrate how we use playful techniques to teach highly technical concepts.

Each concept is taught with a LEGO build, followed by a debrief that ties what the participants just did back to the programming concepts. There are individual builds for TDD, technical debt, continuous integration, simple design and more. Participants will get to experience each of these builds and will walk away with detailed instructions on how to run them.

Our generous hosts will help escort people through the guard station and to the 5th floor when they arrive in the lobby.
