PRESENTATION SYNOPSIS
The role of the Product Owner is one of the most important, yet widely misunderstood and abused roles in Agile. If you got twelve “Product Owners” in a room from different organizations it is very likely that their roles and responsibilities are all different, but similar Product Owner anti-patterns will emerge:
• Lack of empowerment to own the product roadmap and the product backlog
• Fulfilling Product Owner and Scrum Master roles at the same time (arrrg)
• Product Ownership by committee
In order for an Agile team to be successful and reach a true level of high-performance, your organization must understand and appreciate the role of a Product Owner in the SDLC, and empower Product Owners to fulfill their commitment to their team just the same as anybody else. Read: how to unshackle your Product Owners to capture untapped value and achieve product outcome excellence.
"The business" of being a Product Owner will be a one-hour session that will examine the critical practices, behaviors, and contributions that a Product Owner needs to exhibit in order to effectively fulfill their role and support the team and foster/enhance an Agile culture, and the best organization structure for making it all happen.
Folks that will find this session interesting/helpful:
• Veteran Product Owners or those just starting out
• Non-Product Owner team members that want to learn more about Product Ownership
• VPs/Directors/Managers that want to better understand the Product Owner role and how to get the most Agile bang for the buck
• Random Detroiters that want to meet cool people and not be too disruptive during the presentation
PRESENTER
