Hi everyone,

Josh Seiden and I are leading an evening workshop at General Assembly NYC Thursday, June 9, 2011. We'd love to see some familiar faces in the audience, so please come if you can, and spread the word to any of your friends who want to learn how to be more effective when they "get out of the building."


Course description:

Great companies talk to customers. Interviewing customers helps you figure out which features people want and need; it helps you get behind the numbers and really understand the trends in the business; and it is the critical first step in the user experience design process. In this workshop, you will learn techniques for planning interviews, what you can do during the interview to ensure success, and more. You'll walk away with the foundational skills you need to put user interviews to work in your business.

Instructor Bios:

Josh Seiden and Lane Halley are co-directors of LUXr NYC, (http://luxr.posterous...­) a residency program for early-stage startups.

Josh is a designer and design manager with deep experience building complex applications. Over his 20 years working in technology, Josh has been a leader in the fields of interaction design and user experience, particularly in lean and agile environments. Josh is a veteran of Cooper (the firm that invented the persona), and is a founding board member and past President of the Interaction Design Association (IxDA).

Lane is a UX strategist who has been infatuated with early stage companies for more than 20 years. As an agile coach and design consultant, Lane helps cross-functional teams undertand their project domain, develop empathy with users, and engage in creative collaboration. She has worked with Microsoft, Mindscape (EA), Addamark (SenSage), Cooper, Liquidnet, and Specialized Systems Consultants (SSC). She's accomplished in marketing, product management, user research, and interaction design for pretty much anything with a screen.
