Agile Humans Meetup #30: From Self-Coaching Individuals to Self-Managing Teams?

Details
UNPACKING SELF-ORGANIZATION IN AGILE
Self-organization is a key principle of Agile. Would agile practice be just another management-led process without it, or is it just a myth we use to increase productivity? Did we lose sight of where the journey towards high performing, highly motivated teams starts? Did we keep in mind how important individuals are?
Although the concept is utterly essential to the way people work together in an agile environment, it has sometimes been misunderstood or even disputed among the agile community.
So, let’s break the concept of self-organization down, and discuss what it really means, and, (maybe) more importantly, how to get there? Drawing on a range of examples of self-organization beyond software this interactive talk we will unpack the concept and give you a framework to build self-organization.
During the meeting we will discuss:
- The agile definition of self-organization
- What is the difference between self-organizing and self-managing teams?
- What’s the most valuable parts of the Scrum framework for self-organization?
- What is the role of individuals in self-managing teams?
- How important are self-awareness and self-coaching?
- What about self-assessment?
- How can you develop the phenomena of self-organization?
