Speaker: Mike Burrows
Title: Managing change in the 21st century: what we know & where we must do better
About the Presentation: "Top down", with the challenge of overcoming resistance to change, or "bottom up", perhaps never gathering steam? Is it indeed a dichotomy, or can organisational transformation find a third way that is simultaneously respectful, ambitious, and sustainable? We'll explore a synthesis of ideas old and new, organised by a five-stage Lean-Agile process of Discovery, Exploration, Mapping, Elaboration, and Operation.
About Mike: Mike Burrows is author of Kanban from the Inside (the first values-based treatment of the Kanban Method, and drawing on his experience as interim CTO for a late-stage startup) and founder of Agendashift (www.agendashift.com), the home of an integrated set of online, workshop-based and coaching tools for a growing community of Lean-Agile transformation practitioners. Prior to these roles, he was Executive Director and global development manager for a top tier investment bank. Part I of his new book Agendashift: clean conversations, coherent collaboration, continuous transformation (leanpub.com/agendashift) was published May 11th.
Speaker : Oli Wennell
Title: Mob Programming
About the Presentation: Making software with others is tricky. How do you ensure all code is well written and consistent? How do you ensure knowledge is distributed throughout the team? How do you make the right thing? There are no silver bullets, but Mob Programming can help. "The whole team, working on the same thing, at the same time, on the same computer" is a simple idea, but your first reaction may be "how could it possibly work?". Well, why not join me to hear about the time I've spent in various "mobs" over the years, where I'll be discussing the benefits available as well as some of the pitfalls to avoid.
About Oli: Oli worked in the animation and video-game industries before joining comparethemarket.com where he's now a technical lead. Hey enjoys experimenting with ways to deliver better software faster, whether that's through technology or how people work together.
Look forward to seeing you at our event!
