R&D execution - Using Significant Metrics

Details

Our metrics define our culture. That’s why it’s so important to pick the right things to measure in order to build a productive yet healthy culture in R&D teams. In this talk, Ori will try to breakdown what are the metrics that matter for engineering execution and how they play hand in hand with agile practices and ceremonies.
We will dive into the following topics among others:

  • How to accurately measure lead time and cycle times?
  • How to align engineering metrics with organizational level goals and become a business enabler?
  • Where does the ‘development task’ record really lives (hint: everywhere)?
  • How do most teams fall into the trap of using story points as a productivity metric?

Ori Keren has over 20 years of experience in founding and building R&D teams from the ground up. He was formerly VP of Engineering of CloudLock (acquired by Cisco in 2016) where he scaled the team from the first developers to a global R&D organization of over 80 people. Before that Ori was an R&D leader in Interwise (acquired by AT&T in 2007). In 2019 Ori co-founded LinearB to build the only SaaS platform for engineering leaders. The company is helping over 50 customers globally to open up the engineering 'black box', gain visibility into their execution metrics and drive continuous improvement.
