The guilded rose kata

So, after unfortunately missing a December session, the last Thursday of January sees us revisit the Guilded Rose Kata. It's a language agnostic session so bring your laptop and have some fun with the challenge to refactor code for maintainability.

I have my baby sitter arranged but unfortunately I'm under the weather now. I may not make it later depending on how I am.

    Apologies for the flakiness.

I didn't need to know that you were flaking ;-)

      Get well soon!

I'm still planning on attending. Just need the drugs to work!

As you may have noted in the below discussion, I'd like to propose a different kata but I don't want to disclose the subject matter to ensure we all explore it together. It can be done in any language so bring laptops or online REPLS etc and let's play :-)

A helpful link to the Gilded Rose Kata in a variety of languages for tomorrow: https://github.com/emilybache/GildedRose-Refactoring-Kata

I'd not updating meetup but had suggested changing to a different kata on Slack. Somethink easier to understand and fun. Didn't want to advertise name to prevent lookups. What do you think?

I'm easy going as long as it's not FizzBuzz! ;-)

Hi! Just wondering if this meetup is for me. Currently learning web design in a vacuum and feel like I need experience of working with other designers/developers. Know a bit of JS; this is the most complicated thing I've done so far (needs keyboard): http://www.jamesturneronline.net/games/asteroids/game.html What do you think? Thx :)

This meet up is all about software development and the processes that go into it. We do not really cover development of particular types of application E.g. Web. We do sometimes use types of application to demonstrate techniques, like TDD using PHP for example.

Thanks for the reply, Trevor. Probably not for me at this stage :)

Sorry, I won't be able to make this meetup; it's clashing with a Diversity Role Models training course in Birmingham that's on at the same time :( Hope it goes well - and happy 2016 to everyone at Agile Staffs...
