Agile U

Agile Austin U

At Agile Austin, we are strong believers in learning through concrete exercises and practical application. That is, while theory and book knowledge are essential, the application of techniques is equally important to a true understanding.

The following courses are offered from time to time; keep an eye on the calendar for announcements and registration.

The Agile Austin U Foundations Course is an 8 week evening course for our community. We introduce the core concepts of agile and lean, with an emphasis on Scrum. Each session is conducted by two volunteer instructors plus facilitators, and dinner is provided. Proof of Attendance will be provided for those interested in claiming PDU’s. There is a $50 charge for the entire course to defray costs of food and materials.

The Agile Austin U Advanced Course is a four-week evening course that provides a deep-dive into more advanced agile topics, and is intended for members of the community with at least 6 months of agile practice. Experienced volunteers facilitate the discussions. The topics explored are chosen at the first session based on the interests of the participants. The Foundations course is strongly recommended as a prerequisite, and the six months experience is required.

The Agile Austin U Introduction to Lean/Kanban is a three-session course over about 6 weeks-- a Saturday morning, an evening, and a final Saturday morning -- facilitated by experienced volunteers. Participants are equipped with software before the first meeting and are expected to practice the methods exposed at the first meeting in their daily work throughout the course. There are no prerequisites, although the Foundations course is recommended.

Workshops on specialized topics lasting roughly 2 hours (evening) or 3-4 hours (Saturday morning) are offered from time to time. If there's a topic you'd like to see, or one you'd like to present, please get in touch with the Education Chair.
